About Me
“If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy
and understanding, shame can’t survive.”
-- Brené Brown
Hi! My name is Laura Carrillo (some of you may know me as Lola). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona (LPC-19911). I was raised biculturally in both the United States and México and as a bilingual therapist I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from ASU and earned my Master's in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University.

I count with extensive experience in the mental health field as clinical supervisor, site supervisor and therapist for outpatient community health clinics since 2016. I also count with experience in the education field as former faculty in community college under supervision of the counseling department. I have provided therapeutic services to individual, couples, families, facilitated groups, and working with various state contracts. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked as a clinical supervisor providing consultation, clinical training, evaluate, and motivate master's level therapists, post-grads, and licensed clinicians.

In both personal and professional life, I attempt to be an LGBTQIA + Ally, antiracist, and promote human kindness. Know that whether you are considering therapy for the first time or have attended therapy in the past, I welcome you as you are and look forward to working with you in building a nonjudgmental, safe, and respectful space where the only thing you have to focus on is your mental health journey.

During my free time I enjoy reading a good book (in particular books connected to my field), traveling, watching mindless T.V shows, I love cooking (but really LOVE cooking), listening to podcasts, cozy couches and coffee/tea, spending quality time with my boyfriend and our two cats Luna and Archie, which they make our life eventful everyday!
My friends and family describe me as: caring, willing to help anyone and listen to their needs, ethical, nurturing, emphatic, loving, confident, full of creative ideas, funny, knowledgeable, unique personality that makes anyone feel safe, listened to and respected.
