Have you ever accomplished something you worked incredibly hard for, only to find yourself thinking, "I should have done more," or immediately focusing on the next goal?

Yet somehow, that feeling never comes.

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.

Many women struggling with anxiety don't realize that beneath the constant overthinking, perfectionism, and self-criticism is often a deeper question:

"Why do I never feel like I'm enough?"

When Anxiety Is More Than Worry

Anxiety isn't always about stressful situations. Sometimes anxiety develops after years of feeling responsible for getting everything "right," avoiding mistakes, or believing your worth depends on what you accomplish or how others see you.

You may notice yourself:

  • Constantly comparing yourself to others

  • Overthinking even small decisions

  • Feeling guilty when you rest

  • Struggling to celebrate your accomplishments

  • Seeking reassurance before making choices

  • Feeling like everyone else has life figured out except you

Over time, these patterns can become emotionally exhausting.

The Hidden Belief: "I'm Not Good Enough"

Many women didn't grow up hearing the words, "You're not enough." Instead, the message was much more subtle.

Perhaps you felt responsible for keeping the peace. Maybe your accomplishments were noticed more than your emotions. Perhaps mistakes felt unacceptable, or you learned to put other people's needs before your own. These experiences can quietly shape the way you see yourself.

As an adult, this may look like anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, difficulty trusting yourself, or feeling like you're always falling behind, even when you're doing everything "right."

These are not character flaws.

They're often protective patterns that developed over time.

Healing Begins with Understanding

One of the most meaningful parts of therapy is realizing there is a reason these patterns developed.

Instead of asking, "What's wrong with me?" you begin asking, "What happened that taught me I had to earn

my worth?"

That shift can reduce self-blame and create space for healing. Therapy isn't about becoming a different person.

It's about learning to relate to yourself with greater understanding, developing healthier ways of coping with anxiety, and building a sense of worth that isn't dependent on achievement, approval, or perfection.

You Don't Have to Keep Carrying This Alone

If you recognize yourself in these patterns, know that change is possible. With the right support, it's possible to reduce anxiety, strengthen self-trust, develop healthier relationships, and begin letting go of the pressure to constantly prove your worth. I provide online therapy for women throughout Arizona, Colorado, and Minnesota who are struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, self-doubt, people-pleasing, and the lasting impact of childhood emotional experiences.

If you're ready to better understand the patterns that have been keeping you stuck, I'd be honored to support you on your journey toward healing.
